Florence is one of our favorite places on Earth, not just in Italy. There is just so much culture, art, history, not to mention beautiful scenery and some our favorite cuisine. We have been multiple times and still can’t wait to go back.
The Cinque Terre, both a National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the Italian Riviera at its best. These five small towns, connected by a trail, may be filled with tourists, but it is still laid back and enjoyable. Hike the Sentiero Azurro for heart-pumping views and exercise.
Northern Italy has several wonderful places to visit including Venice, Milan, Lake Como, the Dolomites and Turin. We enjoyed spending several days touring the northern part of the country.
